Abstract

God set the framework for sex and sexuality when He created Adam and Eve. The first commandment God gave to them was to have sex and children. Sex serves two purposes for God: the ability for two to become one flesh as intimately as possible and to create more children for God. Sex should be celebrated within the covenant of marriage. God has many standards and principles concerning sex which can be found in the Bible. This brief paper examines some of those principles as it examines God’s purpose for all of humanity with sexual intimacy. The paper presents the author’s personal theology of sex and sexuality. Represented in this paper are the areas that this author needed personal growth in from a sinful past to better serve God and clients.

Theology of Sexuality and Sex

This paper is written from certain Biblical beliefs of the author. After living a painful and shameful past, this author has struggled with building her own sexuality and what is right and wrong in God’s eyes. This paper will address God’s plan for mankind’s sexuality and sex briefly reviewing God’s laws concerning premarital sex, as well as sexual perversions such as same sex affairs, violent sex, pedophilia, incest, lust, pornography. It will then discuss the ultimate beauty of the intimate sexual experience that God has designed for mankind. Forgiveness for sexual sins is also discussed. Many people commit sexual sins. Redemption must be sought if a couple is to experience the holiness of God’s gift.

Sex and sexuality is a sacred gift that God has given to humans. This sacred gift enables a man and woman to come together with Christ as one. God has always intended humans to be relational beings. He wants us to have a relationship with one another as well as with Him.
