Chapter I: the Problem and It’s Background

Background of the Study

Are you fond of playing online games? If yes, what kind of online games did you playing? Do you have any idea about online games? Actually, online game is a video game played over some form of computer network, using a personal computer or video game console. In most cases, online games are freeware programs that can be used for an unlimited time and are available for free. The online games have these advantages: First, it has the ability to connect to multiplayer games, although single-player online games are quite common as well. Second, is that a great percentage don’t require payment. And last that is worth noting is the availability of wide variety of games for all type of game players. Online games have the basic types: MMOG (Massive Multi-Player Online Games), Adult/gambling/erotic games, Puzzle/Strategy games, Racing/Simulation games and First-person Shooter games. Some of the students enjoy playing this kind of the games. But, do you think that this is also having a disadvantage/s on you? Online games have different effects on the individuals. It can be positive or negative. It can also affect in their behaviors.

The research paper was conducted to the sophomore students of St. Thomas Academy to fulfill our aim and that is to know how online games really affect to them. We want to inform that this thesis is not only for the 2nd year students but also for all Thomasians. We made it help other students to understand about online games.
