Greyston Bakery was founded in 1982 by a former aerospace engineer with an entrepreneurial spirit and a bold vision. The group borrowed $300,000 and opened a small storefront bakery in the Bronx. The original goal was to produce quality, and locally made products. After finding a new calling Greyston Bakery now proudly offers a line of exceptional gourmet brownies. The bakery is located on the Hudson River and offers on-site training, fair wages, and benefits to more than 65 local residents. Greyston Bakery hires employees regardless of their work history.

Greyston Bakery has social mission to be proud of. There social mission is to hire within the community and profits from the bakery go to the Greyston Foundation. The Greyston Bakery supports the Greyston Foundation. The foundation includes low-income housing, childcare, health services, and technology education. The Greyston Bakery has recently been accepted into the Benefit Corporation. The Benefit Corporation uses the power of business to solve social and environmental issues. Greyston Bakery is one of six companies in New York to be accepted by the Corporation. They are part of a foundation that helps individuals get back on their feet and get their lives together as a way to succeed.

The film is important to the local community and the rest of the country to show that there is more to a company then making money. Greyston Bakery is a company that values its employees and gives back to the community. The film is sending a message to everyone around the world. The message is to take care of our own. Without the working class citizens a company like Greyston Bakery would not be open and successful.
