Class Objective
This is a class on inventory management and control techniques and methodologies. The course intends to familiarize the students with the subject and its importance for the corporation from all perspectives; managerial, financial, marketing and sales. The students will gain an overview of the subject and the means used to assess, control and manage inventory.
The student should be able at the end of the semester to:
• Understand the significance of inventory multiple perspectives.
• Understand the factors that influence inventory decisions
• Be able to determine the level of inventory most appropriate to have in the organization.
• Determine the best practices to manages and control inventory stocks.
Text books used
Two books will be used concurrently:
1- Essentials of Inventory Management by Max Muller. AMACOM.
2- Best Practices in Inventory management by Tony Wild. Second edition, Elsevier Ltd.
Additional reading material will be assigned and posted on blackboard at different intervals throughout the Semester.
Attendance
Class attendance is highly recommended.
Class Format
This class will be presented live on Tuesdays at main campus from 6:25-9:05 PM. All classes will be broadcast to the Rice campus live and recorded for delayed broadcast on the Internet. All students can access the delayed internet broadcast by logging into the Blackboard portal.
Assignments
Assignments and reports should be submitted through the Blackboard portal on time.
