The implications of the information media on social responsibility can be somewhat complicated. The information media must retain a recognizable amount of social responsibility to function properly. At the same time, however, some sources of information media can get away with the most heinous crimes against social responsibility one can conceive. On one hand, most sources must appeal to an educated audience without ruining their reputation. On the other hand, some sources can be corrupt by being bought and sold for the purposes of fulfilling the highest bidder’s agenda.

The socially responsible information media is motivated by informing the audience about things that appeal to their interest. The need to be socially responsible pertains to their need to maintain their own reputation. The audience must buy their product for them to stay in business. For them, selling lies and slander can have deep consequences. The audience may become disengaged, doubtful, or agitated. Not to mention, if someone can prove that they have slenderized their product or company with the intention to cause them loss, they can be held accountable for the loss.

When the information media spouts sources that do not retain social responsibility, it is usually a sign that they have become corrupt. Some sources can almost get away with the worst crimes against social responsibility. These sources usually fight tooth and nail for the information that supports their own agenda. Information may become slanted, biased, and counterproductive to the interests of responsibility. This can be seen a lot in politics. Politically affiliated information media may just pick one side of an argument and disregard what is right or wrong, only encouraging progress in their own interest.

As with anything else, there may always be a conflict of interest. The important thing is that everyone retains media literacy. Even the most socially responsible and well respected media outlets are not perfect. Some...
