CONTENT OF QPB (BUSINESS ANALYTICS)

Business Analytics is not just a random collection of techniques!!!

The course content is structured to highlight the different statistical approaches to management decision support.

The major components of Business Analytics (and of this course) are:

A Exploratory Data Analysis (Management Decision Making by Inspection)

This field of Business Analytics uses summary tools and techniques to profile sample data to identify patterns, trends, associations and possible relationships.

B Probability Theory (Quantifying and Measuring Uncertainty in Practice)

The terms, concepts and methods of probability are used to measure uncertainty in management decision making. It provides the basis for confidence in statistical decision making.

It is also fundamental to Decision Analysis which is a structured management approach to evaluate decision alternatives under conditions of uncertainty;

C Inferential Statistics (Statistical Decision Making)

This field of Business Analytics uses estimation methods and hypotheses testing approaches to determine the likely true values and behavior of KPI’s in practice.

Aligned to this field are the issues of sampling and survey methodology that impact on data integrity that is essential for valid statistical decision making.

D Statistical Modeling based on regression analysis which provides managers with predictive and forecasting decision making tool
