Several important topics have been covered in this class. Each has its own importance, and the combined knowledge of them all is what can put a student on the road to academic success. In order to excel in my studies, I must have a good grasp on the following topics: using Axia College’s educational resources, upholding academic honesty, setting and achieving goals, managing time wisely, fostering reading comprehension and retention, and applying personality and learning styles.
Using Axia College’s Educational Resources
Many resources are available to students attending Axia College. I have never experienced studying like this, in the distance learning environment. The materials needed to complete the coursework are all right in front of you and available at the click of a mouse.
The class syllabus states every assignment for the duration of the class, when it is due, and how to turn it in. It goes week by week listing the materials that need to be read and used for the week.
In each class there is a course materials section in which all of the text is available for you to read to help complete the assignments. It is very convenient to have access to these readings and to the online library.
The resource that I have used the most is the Center for Writing Excellence. The CWE has WritePoint and Plagiarism checker. I have used this center to submit my academic papers for review. After my paper has been submitted, I receive it back along with the center’s feedback. It has helped me to learn what is proper in academic writing. It offers suggestions and helps to correct and make any changes necessary in order to have a properly written paper.
The Plagiarism checker is useful in making sure the information that is submitted in a paper is original. It lists what percentage of the paper submitted has been plagiarized.
