Introduction
In this report I will be providing my overview, analysis and evaluation of the current situation
at Zinn’s Burger and Pizza (Ottershaw branch) finds itself in. I will be looking at how the
external environment and its negative effects have found the business starting to decline.
Please see the appendix A1 for a SWOT analysis I used to help me with my report.
Report
I have decided to use the STEEP theory from B120 Book 1, section 2. I will use this to look
at and highlight the main problems in greater detail. I have listed below what I believe to be
all the current issues relating to the external environment for Zinn’s Burger and pizza;
• Threats from management- CCTV
• Attitude of staff
• Lack of training for staff
• Age of supervisory staff
• Very high turnover of staff
• Bonuses only for management
• The current recession
• Healthy eating / healthy options
I have used this and looked at Zinns using the STEEP model below:
Sociological Factors
With many staff members being young students who just want part time work this has created
a culture of staff members not caring, being too laid back. With supervisors and managers
the same age or even younger this has made the team less structured and with a very informal
management system. This is not helped by a lack of training or management structure on a
night.
