Analyzing Credibility

The two videos clips, I decided to watch, were the CNN video of the “Larry King Live Show” with Rudy Giuliani, and the Pedigree commercials. In the news clip with Larry King and Rudy Giuliani the example was paid for by CNN and the Pedigree commercials were paid for by Pedigree dog food. I believe there is a slant in the CNN clip; it seemed to me that Larry King was trying to bait Rudy Giuliani to give more of a political interview. In the Pedigree commercials the slant is the owners want the best for their dogs. The CNN clip reflects society’s dilemma of one major element and minor element; the major element would be the war in Iraq and the minor element is what should be done to the site of the World Trade Center. Both of these issues are credible because of the fact that these are dilemmas that society is struggling with; the clip did not offer any solutions to these two issues, which would have questioned their credibility. I do not believe that the pedigree commercial reflects the society at all; this is a company promoting dog food. Yes it could be creditable for pet owners, as many pet owners treat their pets like family and want the best for them, so they may choose to try pedigree dog food.

I think that with today’s news media, they always have to be skeptical about what they hear. The history of CNN, gives everyone confidence to as a news media that has reliable information and sources. I personal see a little bias information from the 9/11 topic. Rudy Giuliani understands that New York is his home town, and how the World Trade Center should be remembered as a landmark like the Statue of Liberty. As for Pedigree I do not see any bias, as they are promoting their product and not putting the other companies down.
