My Leadership Style

I feel that the leadership style that best suits my qualities is the High-High behavior of leadership. Leaders with this form of leadership have a high concern for both people and production. According to my assessment results, I balance people and tasks appropriately, I have fairly strong charismatic leadership qualities such as management of self, feelings, and trust, I am deemed trustworthy, and I do not easily grant everyone my trust. All positive attributes of high-high leaders. However, the assessment pointed out my leadership weaknesses which include management of meaning, risks, and attention, and mild deficiencies in disciplining techniques. If not corrected, these weaknesses can prevent be from becoming an effective leader.

In my organization, there are numerous positions that I feel my leadership style will suit the employees needs. However, if I were to choose, I would decide to be coordinator for student employee enhancement program. This position fits my leadership style because the position requires an individual who is empathetic, loyal, and understanding. I posses all these characteristics, and on top of that, I am passionate about helping hardworking individuals succeed in the workplace.

Leadership Theories

The interest in leadership dates back to nearly the beginning of the twentieth century. Early theories focused on the qualities imbedded in individuals that separated them in to two groups, leaders and followers, while later theories focused on other determinants such as situational factors and skill level. There are various leadership theories that have emerged, however, most can be classified as three major types: Trait Theories, Behavioral Theories, and Contingency Theories.
