Questions and Answers for Journal Entry

Question 1: Discuss the NFL’s current strategy for global market entry. How has this strategy changed, and why did the NFL make these changes?

After the NFL Europa had closed in 2007 they were not thinking of having a replacement. A key global market strategy for the NFL International Series was to have the games actually overseas. They had used the New York Giants vs. Miami Dolphins to play the first game in Lond’s Wembley Stadium in 2007. The turn of fans was about ‘83,000’ guest. In 2008, they had the New Orleans Saints and the San Diego Chargers play. By just having the game overseas, it would allow new people to attend the games in which would allow the NFL slowly become global.

Question 2: Discuss the major environmental challenges that the NFL has encountered and how they have addressed these.

A major environment change was the NFL teams would be playing in a different country and in a new stadium they had not played in before. Each team is allowed to have practices before the upcoming games. Besides arriving early for practice, they also allow the media to interview the players. Another challenge they had to face was that NFL Europa had failed, so it would also look bad if the NFL International Series failed as well.

Question 3: Examine each aspect of the global marketing mix for the NFL International Series compared with the marketing mix for NFL Europa.

They want their product, Football Gear, to be able to sell globally than just in the United States. These products would consist of jerseys, hats, posters, mugs, and more. Because football is not a globalized sport, the business cannot sell items like how soccer can.

The NFL Europa was used as stacking players for the owners, which did not help them globalize their business. It also lead to losing money, which they had to shut down. NFL...
