1. Introduction

Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited is one of the renowned private commercial bank in our country. It is playing a vital role for improving the economical condition of our country. As a part of my MSS program I joined this bank as an intern at the 21st November. Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited is commonly referred as DBBL, Dutch-Bangla, Dutch Bangla and Dutch Bangla Bank among its employees and consumers. I was appointed at the Satmasjid Road Branch of Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited.

2. Overview of the organization

2.1 Brief history of the organization

Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited is a scheduled joint venture commercial bank between local Bangladeshi parties spearheaded by M Sahabuddin Ahmed (Founder & Chairman) and the Dutch company FMO. DBBL was established under the Bank Companies Act 1991 and incorporated as a public limited company under the Companies Act 1994 in Bangladesh with the primary objective to carry on all kinds of banking business in Bangladesh. DBBL commenced formal operation from June 3, 1996. The Bank is listed with the Dhaka Stock Exchange Limited and Chittagong Stock Exchange Limited.

From the onset, the focus of the bank has been financing high-growth manufacturing industries in Bangladesh. The rationale being that the manufacturing sector exports Bangladeshi products worldwide. Thereby financing and concentrating on this sector allows Bangladesh to achieve the desired growth. DBBL's other focus is Corporate Social Responsiblity (CSR).
