The movie “The Odyssey,”(written and directed by name) (see comments above for corrections)( is based on an ancient epic poem written by Homer. The movie centers around the Greek hero, Odysseus (include actor’s name here(also known as Ulysses ) and opens with his wife, Queen Penelope,(actress name) giving birth to his son, Telemachus, ( actor) in Ithaca. Odysseus is the King of Ithaca. While Odysseus is overjoyed at the birth of his son, he is also very sad as Greece was (is going – unify tense) going to war with Troy. The Kings came for Ulysses and he was(tense) forced to leave his wife and newborn son to fight in the war against Troy. He prays to the Goddess Athena to find a way to avoid going to war, but she does not answer him. As he prepares to leave for war he tells his wife she must remarry if he does not return from war by the time his son is a man. He wants to ensure the happiness of his wife and of his son. His mother, nanny and wife watch as Odysseus and his warriors sail off to war, unsure if they will ever return.

As Odyssues is sailing, he speaks to the heavens and tells the Goddess Athena that it is ok ( slang in formal writing) that she has not been there for him. At that moment she appears. She tells him that she wanted (tense) him to go on this journey because she wants him to defeat the Trojans. His destiny is to become immortal. Athena tells him to be brave and disappears once more.
