Leadership has been defined by several authors, some of this definitions are:
Leadership is the ability to inspire confidence and support among the people who are needed to achieve organizational goals. (Daglish& Dubrin,2003,p.3). This definition is appropriate because you need to inspire confidence and support if you want your followers to attain the organizational goals. This definition is incomplete because it does not state how it will inspire confidence and support.
Bartol, Martin, Tein and Mathews (2005) define Leadership as the ability to influence people towards the attainment of organizational goals. Leadership occurs among people, involves the use of influence and is used to attain goals. In this definition influence is not elaborated. These authors have not stated how they can influence people,

Leadership is the ability to influence a group toward the achievement of goals. Robbins, Judge, Millett and Waters(2008). Again the word influence needs to be elaborated in this definition.
