Career Development Plan

InterClean is taking on a new strategic direction. With the merger in process, the company will no longer sell just cleaning products, but will provide full-service cleaning solutions for the health care industry. This development plan will assist the company in succeeding its new direction.

Job Analysis

The new strategy for InterClean will require sales persons to have product knowledge and service experience. Using thorough observation, one can identify the various duties of the position to reach a deeper understanding of job requirements (Reference for Business, n.d.). In conjunction with observation, interviews will provide information the eye cannot see, therefore providing information that may not be available through alternate sources. The methods just mentioned will be appropriate for analyzing and selecting the team’s sales person positions.

Content. Salespersons will be selling on a contractual basis. The company’s onsite training staff will provide product knowledge, servicing agreements, and customer service training.

Context. Salespersons will be part of a multi-functional team. Sales persons must be able to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with full body, arms, and/or legs, and stand for long periods of time.

Cautions. Salespersons will be exposed to different sets of chemicals and are required to wear common protective safety gear (safety shoes, glasses, gloves, etc.).

Requirements. Knowledge and experience in (1) sanitation, environmental regulations of cleaning, cleaning systems, (2) Occupation Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, federal and state compliance standards for sanitation, waste disposal, chemical use, and environmental clean up, (3) contract bidding, contract costs, contract administration, contract renewal issues and proposal development, (4) must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and...
