Training and Development Program for Managers

R's Team Management Company (RTM) provides a variety of team management services to their clients, who range from individuals to Fortune 1000 companies throughout the northeast United States. RTM have been in business for 20 years and during that time have grown to 80 employees. They are starting to expand the services they offer and also hope to expand their business to cover the central and mid-west United States within the next five - eight years. This plan of expanded services and coverage of territory is expected to increase their need for 10 new managers to support the clientele they have and expect to have.

Now that the management teams have been created, it is time to structure a training and development program that suits the needs of the team. Structuring the training process will minimize the time needed to acquire a new skill and improve the efficiency of the training program. Cascio (2006) states that training is defined as planned programs designed to improve performance at the individual, group, and/or organizational levels. This paper is an explanation of the new training needs, objectives, performance standards, delivery methods, training content, time-frame and evaluation methods used to create the structure of a training program.

Training Needs of a Management Team

The company realizes that in order to grow and prosper, and retain employees that are valuable to the company, they need to have more formal training programs, mapped to career paths, in place for their employees.
