What were the major developments in the evolution of mass media during the last century?
* The major developments in the mass media during the last century were; print media, newspaper, and radio, television. During the last century Johannes Gutenberg’s invented the movable type printing press that helps with the work of printing books. Before the movable printing press, books were written by hand switch was a long painful process, with the help of the printing press printing was made much easier and possible to publish. The movable type printing press was invented in the 15th century with this invention written material was a lot cheaper to produce. It made it easier to reach a variety of peoples. In the 18th century Friedrich Koenig took the evolution to another level. He took the movable type printing press and hooks it to a steam engine. With this invention it helps to industrialize the press media. During that century the press was done by hand that produce 480 pages an hour. By the 1930 with the help of Friedrich Koenig invention many of printing presses were able to print and publish 3,000 pages an hour. With this mass media the newspaper was made possible. With the newspaper on the rise a new evolution was about to appear to the mass media; it was the penny paper. The penny was more to the low class peoples than that of the higher class of people; the daily newspaper was more appealing to the wealthy and educated class. In the early 20th century the radio was produce. In the 1940s before the World War II era the United States was mark by prosperity because of this prosperity. Another level of mass media was produce; television.
