Dear Learner,

Through this letter I welcome all the freshly admitted learners to ICA, College of Distance Education & Online Studies, a Partner institution of IGNOU. IGNOU has been conferred upon the “CENTER OF EXCELLENCE” by the Commonwealth of Learning. It is the apex body of all Distance Teaching Institutions of India.

Here we follow the methodology of Distance Education and the philosophy of Open Learning, which are innovations in the scenario of higher education. Quite naturally the method you are going to adopt is unlike the conventional classroom study you are familiar with.

ICA is the first Partner Institution of IGNOU in Nepal. It has also been Approved by Ministry of Education, Government of Nepal. It is the first and the only educational organization of Nepal to become the member of AAOU (Asian Association of Open Universities).The Degrees of IGNOU are recognized by Universities of Nepal, Government and Non Government agencies and internationally.

The instructional system is a judicious combination of printed materials, audio and video programmes. The Study Center will provide you the printed materials (Study Materials) and you will get access to the audio and video programmes at the study center or the same can be accessed via study center website i.e. www.ica.edu.np. You may also watch IGNOU video programmes on Doordarshan every day from 6:45 to 7: 15 AM.

The University also runs BROADCAST CHANNELS, which are two separate television channels called the GYAN DARSHAN – I and GYAN DHARSHAN –II / EDUSAT and FM CHANNEL called GYAN VANI. You can get access to these resources through the study center website: www.ica.edu.np . These channels, air IGNOU programs and a substantial chunk of it will be interactive.
