Whether a person wants to promote a product, a service, or win the next election, advertising is highly effective, and can reach potential customers across multiple channels.

Advertisements inform consumers what services or products are available in their area, from carpet cleaning to finding a cardiac specialist, and advertisements keep the name of the service or product in the forefront of the consumers’ minds. Advertisements inform the consumer about the specials at their local restaurants, food market, favorite store, and also informs and reminds the consumer of the many benefits the business or product has to offer. Consumers are usually inspired to purchase a product or service when they are aware of the specific benefits the product or service offers. Advertising also informs the public about the men and women running for the next election and what they are basing their campaign on.

The marketing techniques used in advertising are persuasive. Depending on the product, or the service that is offered, advertisers will design a message that will reach the target audience, and the message will aim at a very specific geographic area. Many times, advertisers will use beautiful models to sell a product, wanting to persuade the consumer that by using a certain product will make the consumer look like the models, or will attract beautiful people to the consumer by using the product. The commercials for the local restaurants, with food sizzling and popping, can persuade the consumer to go out and purchase the delicious looking item that was currently advertised. Consumers watching cartoons on a Saturday morning with their children can see there is a push on toys, snacks, fast food, and candy. The products are presented as fun and exciting, which gets the children excited about the products, which then triggers the children to beg their parent or caretaker for the items, or the products that were advertised.
