Any job that is challenging can be made a bit less challenging with the proper tools. Project management is no different especially when you are working with time and budget constraints. Processes, templates, and practical examples help you work smarter not harder. The tools I find most helpful are project management templates. These templates give you a blueprint as it were of how to start and what is needed in the complete suite to create project deliverables. Project templates cover all areas of a project life cycle so that no step is missed.

Spreadsheet software, such as Microsoft Excel, can be used in various project management processes to organize, format, and highlight items to separate and magnify their importance. The use of graphs and charts prove useful in explaining data. You can also tackle multiple faucets of the project when using Microsoft Excel.

Some processes in project management may require the use of scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project software to make workable planning decisions. It is awesome to use this to keep the project team discipline and on task. Start dates are entered into the software and finish dates are automatically calculated based on the last talks. As you enter dependencies, durations, and time constraints you will see the dates adjust as needed.

There are many tips I would offer when it comes to using either of the above-mentioned products, the first being use them now and use them often. Once you use them it will be evident that they are very different. Microsoft Project is used for planning and Microsoft Excel is best for project calculations. Excel gives you are broader range of products to compared in your project and Project deals with certain products.
