Abstract

The report is an interpretation of the team of management consultants, analysing a French Company Chatroux. It gives recommendations according to the problems encountered. The president Director had to resign because of coronary illness. M. Guy Legris served the company for 27 years and was task oriented. The report identifies the motivating factors at his time which are related to Herzberg’s two factor theory, also Job Security one of the Hygiene Factors and Maslow’s social needs. The new production Director appointed was Herr Dr Rudolf Barfuss. He could not replicate M. Guy Legris, as he was a person who believed in delegation of responsibility, teamwork, and joint decision making. Unfortunately, the workforce received his ideas negatively, which was indeed disappointing for him. To normalize the situation, the report generates an action plan, that the employees should be provided evident job security and Dr Barfuss should undergo a training to learn the French Style of Management.

An overview of the report

This case study deals with an analysis of an Austrian-owned company, Auskuft AG. They had their headquarters in Vienna since 1998. Its main aim was to strengthen its position among the European media conglomerates. In 2004 Auskunft AG took interest in Chatroux, a French company. They had the contract to print menus of Parisian hotels and restaurants.

The company Chatroux is run by M. Jaques Giraud, who was the President Director General.

The production unit of the company was headed by M. Guy Legris. He has been working in the company for the last 27 years. M. Legris’ style of motivation appealed to its employees. The motivating factors existing in the company are related to some content theories like Herzberg’s two-factor theory and Maslow’s theory.

Now Mr. Legris is having some serious health issues due to which he has to quit his job.
