Walking into the high school, wonder what it will bring to one’s life. Seeing all the of the different signs/posters on the walls, “Cheerleading tryouts this Saturday!”, “Come support the first Football game of the season...”. It’s overwhelming for the freshman, where is their place in this school going to be? And where will the spot led them to, popularity? Popularity is something that occurs in most people’s lives, especially when walking through those high school doors and wondering where it will take their life. Being popular can be something totally different from what society makes it seem. It doesn’t matter what other’s think, it is what one makes themselves out to be that takes them to the stage of popularity, but sometimes wanting to be popular can change a person, and not for the better. As time goes on bullying gets worse, and these bullies are considered the most popular in the school. So is being popular really worth changing one’s self into someone it is not? Popularity is something that most want in their life, people want popularity in their life because the feeling of pleasing people because of what they have and do makes them feel accomplished. There are a lot of things that have been proven to be considered popular, and these things are not usually on the bright side. Most would think that if one is popular, it is because they are a good person, but in some cases the popular ones are bullies. So is being popular really a good thing if bullying is what it leads to?

Popularity sometimes comes with a lot to hold up on one’s own, there are high expectations from others, and those can be a struggle at times. One wants to climb up the social ladder, and that can be stressful for them. Because of the weight, they sometimes turn to other things to become popular, like bullying.
