BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY AND ITS SETTING

In this chapter, the proponents discussed the background of the study, the organization’s existing process of dissemination of information and the problems that they encountered using the existing process and the proposed system of the proponents.

Introduction

At the present time and age technology became a part of human lives, it makes the work of people easy and fast. One of the best examples of technology is a website.

Website is a group of World Wide Web pages usually containing hyperlinks to each other and made available online by an individual, company, educational institution, government, or organization. Using website the information is available to be accessed by anyone, anywhere, and anytime. The information within a site can be quickly accessed.  There is no need to shift through several pages. The site may provide links to other sites on the same topic. The site can be updated to always provide the latest information. There is no need to carry a hard copy of information with you. Information is easy to gather and print selectively.

A web portal is a web site that brings information from diverse sources in a unified way. Usually, each information source gets its dedicated area on the page for displaying information (a portlet); often, the user can configure which ones to display. Apart from the standard search engines feature, web portals offer other services such as e-mail, news, stock prices, information, databases and entertainment. Portals provide a way for enterprises to provide a consistent look and feel with access control and procedures for multiple applications and databases, which otherwise would have been different entities altogether.
