Work Life Balance

This paper will try to identify why people will fail to maintain their work-life balance. Evidence shows that most of employees would prefer to be at work in a full-time job, rather than spending more time with their families’ Maintain a suitable balance between work and day to day life is a challenge that all employees face. In particular, families are most affected because of fail to maintain the balance between work and the life. People spend one-tenth to one-fifth of their time on unpaid work. The distribution of tasks within the family is still influenced by gender roles: men are more likely to spend more hours in paid work, while women spend longer hours in unpaid domestic work. While on average men in OECD countries spend 131 minutes per day doing unpaid work, women spend 279 minutes per day cooking, cleaning or caring. Work life balance is more important to workers. Fundamentally this covers maintaining balance between work and the day to day life. Unlike workers managers seems to be gain job satisfaction from a poor work life balance. Workers, however, see work-life balance as a key factor in job satisfaction. If work life balance cannot be achieved, they quit from the organisation. Some people are addicted to work. Why people like to Work Long Hours. An important aspect of work-life balance is the amount of time a person spends at work. Evidence suggests that long work hours may impair personal health, jeopardize safety and increase stress. Overall, men spend more hours in paid work and the percentage of male employees working very long hours across OECD countries is 12%, compared with less than 5% for women.
