Episode 5: Get er Done

Lights, camera, action! Those words mean more than what you know; by evaluating FNL I found that in each episode there was truly great shots, and fantastic camera angels. The show FNL gives us a sneak peak of visual and aural elements not used in most shows. What these ideas give us is a deeper look into the drama and let us engage ourselves in what truly is going on. To further elaborate I will go into detail of some of the camera and camera angle setting FNL gives us in episode 5.

While elaborating on episode 5 get er done, I ran into a lot of visualizations. This episode was loaded with a large amount of drama, as you can tell there were many close ups and visuals of the character intense faces. The reason why they did this was to have the viewer notice that there was going to be a lot of controversy. Some shots were prolonged to give detail on the characters face and what mood he or she was in. That was to emphasize the importance of each issue in this episode. For example the camera angle on coach Taylor face when getting asked whom he was going to start at quarterback. The side view, and the darkened area around coach Taylor face implied that he was going through a hard time of whom he should start. We tend to miss things like this if we really don’t concentrate on what mood Peter is trying to put us in. Another big visual was with Voodoo; every time we saw him it was a shadowy dark scene. The reason why Peter did this was to give the viewer a sort of gloomy and dark feeling about this character. By this continuous negative body language and facial expression, it gave us a feeling that he was no good. Each close up shot allowed us to see if Voodoo was becoming a better teammate or remaining the same.
