McDonald’s SWOT Analysis

McDonald’s is the leading global foodservice retailer with more than 34000 local restaurants and about 119 countries. The company began in 1940, with a restaurant opened by brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald in San Bernardino, California.

The company mission is to make the restaurants the favorite place to eat for the family, provide good customer service and achieve growth with a profit through strengths such as McDonald’s system innovation and technology. Like any other company McDonald have Strenghts, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats.

McDonalds is in a very competitive environment. If they want to differentiate from the competition, it is important to understand their Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. In order for managers to develop their business strategies, internal and external factors must be determined. When the company looks at this information, they can see what they can do to make the company more effective and because no company is perfect, managers can understand potential weaknesses and try to apply a strategy to make it better.

Strengths

• Affordable prices: The ability to keep prices low is what attracts consumers. By making an affordable place to eat, customers keep coming back from a young age.

• McDonalds holds a very strong brand name worldwide: The brand of McDonald’s is easy recognized among competitors. The different locations are in areas that are highly known for visibility and easy access. The restaurants have one of the world’s most recognizable logos.

• The company makes sure that cultural and regional barriers are kept in mind while providing food to different countries. McDonalds is easy to adapt their global restaurants to appeal to the cultural differences.
