George Washington: The Father of America (1732-1799)

The former president of America, George Washington was born February 1732. He was the third son of Augustine Washington who was a Virginian and this later paid off well for George during the American Revolution (War against The British). George Washington won awards and honours such as Congressional Gold Medal, Thanks of Congress, General of The Armies of The United States, First President of The United States. The question is, how did this man rise even up to the extent of being called “The father of America”?

How George Washington rose to power: He lived and worked with brilliant philosophers, thinkers, orators, writers and organizers. Examples of such people were Benjamin Franklin, John and Sam Adams, Jefferson, Patrick Henry Mason, Dickinson, Hamilton etc. He had physical size and presence, charm, courage, ambition, temperament, character, wealth. Added to these was the fact that he was a Virginian and he also had a reputation of being a stalwart patriot. However, the most prominent of the above features was his character. He was widely known as a man of good character.

There has been a common notion that George himself was not a man of intelligence and that he stole ideas from the great minds he worked with (the likes of Benjamin Franklin mentioned above) and implemented them because he was able to sway people with his noble and incorruptible character. This notion isn’t true. He was actually an intelligent person and came up with ideas of his own due to the fact that the respective ages of these men relative to Washington’s dates at which his views were known varied. This proves otherwise to the common notion.
