In this flowchart design are typical processes for a Type 2 Diabetic with Peripheral Neuropathy. Peripheral Neuropathy is a disease that attacks the nerves in legs and feet and can spread throughout the body. The following processes are usually done daily but sometimes metrics are not the same each day. This Type 2 Diabetic in this story used to be a very independent woman before she was diagnosed with Peripheral Neuropathy in 2008. She now has to depend on her mother to help her out with a few concerns in life.

The First process begins when opening eyes and hearing the alarm clock going off. Afterwards, trying to wake-up from a deep sleep can take up to 10 minutes to get moving to the next process. Next process gathering the meter, lancing, and test strip to check glucose while chatting with family takes about 20 minutes or longer. Getting ready for the day begins with brushing teeth and using mouthwash usually takes three minutes. Second process washing face with soap takes about two or three minutes. Third process taking a bath and drying off takes usually 20 minutes. Sometimes there could be another family member using the bathroom and may have to wait to use it. In the household there is only one bathroom.

That could be a potential bottleneck because of waiting to use the bathroom. Another potential bottleneck with this process is there may not be any hot water left. Fourth process brushing hair usually takes one or three minutes at the most. Fifth process ironing clothes while sitting or standing depending on pain in legs and feet takes 10 minutes or longer. Sixth process getting dressed takes 10 minutes or may be a little longer. Then the final last processes are eating breakfast usually takes 10 or 15 minutes while chatting again with family.
