Section I: Overview

When it comes to managing an organization, Peachtree accounting software by Sage is one of the most efficient software programs on the market. It can help the organization keep up with its books, from payroll to accounting to customer accounts. Peachtree makes life a little simpler when it comes to managing the organization.

Peachtree was created by Ron Roberts, Steve Mann, Mikes Jones, and Ben Dyer during 1978 inside Atlanta’s first computer store, The Computer System. In the 1980s, they made a secret deal with IBM it become its first accounting software bundle on the IBM PC. It was purchased by Intelligent Systems, and then they lower the price to $200 and sold it through a direct marketing ad in the Wall Street Journal where it began as an innovative revolution for small businesses and their accounting software. In 1991, Peachtree introduced the first accounting software for Windows. In addition, it acquires One-Write Plus and launched Peachtree Office Accounting which is the first to open architecture accounting software for small businesses. In 1994 Automatic Data Processing obtains Peachtree Software and sold it to Sage Group in 1999. During the 2000s, Sage Group introduced Peachtree to help accountants, construction, nonprofits, distribution, and manufacturing companies. Furthermore it began to outsource payroll services and Direct Deposit service for Peachtree customers. The latest edition that Sage Group introduced was Peachtree by Sage Quantum which is an affordable next step for accounting solutions for companies that outgrown the capacity of the current product line (Brief History of Peachtree by Sage, 2009).
