Pursing an MBA

Pursuing a Master’s degree is an easy choice for some and a hard choice for others. Many people decide to obtain a Master’s degree for various reasons. For example, career advancement, personal achievement, or wanting to gain more knowledge within his or her field. Some people feel that a Master’s degree is hard to acquire due to the extensive amount of work involved to pass courses. However, many people fail to realize that the work load given to the student is to prepare him or her for what is in store after receiving the MBA degree. Learning how to properly analyze the different aspects of a business structure will give me more of an advantage when competing for jobs that many candidates are interested in attaining. There are three elements that I needed to observe before moving forward with acquiring my MBA. The first is to recognize why I wanted to continue my education secondly, how it would affect my career and finally, how I viewed the program’s structure.

Understanding how a MBA could benefit my career is one of the first steps in deciding whether to move forward with the degree. Throughout the MBA program, students will learn a variety of management skills, develop leadership abilities and form alliances with other people in the business industry. In gaining all of these necessary skills, your credentials will have begun to strengthen, which is one of the main reasons why I decided to pursue my MBA. Of course, there is also the financial aspect of obtaining an MBA. The GradSchool website (2009) stated,” MBA graduates in 2005 earned an average of $106,000 and received an average of $40,000 as a signing bonus” (Is an MBA degree Worth Pursing?, ¶ 10). With the state of today’s economy, I feel that I need to continue my education in order to move forward within my company and to keep up with the current trends.
