What are the positive aspects of stereotypes, if any?

Even though generally stereotypes have negative implications, they are not necessarily negative for the fact that stereotypes are mainly based on generalizations targeted toward a group of people. “Such generalizations are necessary in order to be able to interact effectively, we must have an idea of what people are likely to be like, we would like to know which behaviors will be acceptable and which are not” (Guy & Heidi, 2003). An example of positive stereotypes is when an American restaurant owner specifically hires an itaian association to prepare their food to benefit from the success and positive effects associated with the customers who enjoy itailian food.
