Kudler Fine Foods' HRIS

Kudler’s Fine Food (KFF) was founded by Kathy Kudler. Kathy Kudler’s vision of owning an upscale specialty food store became a reality in 1998, when she opened to doors to her first store, located in San Diego, California. The store was an instant success. Pleased with the end of the year profit margins for her first store, Ms. Kudler decided to draw up a blueprint for more stores in various locations. Within five years of opening her first store in San Diego, Ms. Kudler had managed to add two additional stores to her chain: Del Mar location and Encinitas.

The company has experienced some growing pains since the opening of its first location. Although pleased with the success of her company, Kathy Kudler is concerned with the competence and structure of the company’s HR departments. After much deliberation, Mrs. Kudler has decided that her company must evolve from the traditional method of producing reports and embrace the innovations of technology. Mrs. Kudler has contracted a HRIS consulting firm to assist in the restructuring of the company’s HR operations. The information presented in this paper will discuss and explain technology solutions that will address the following issues of KFF’s HR operations: centralization of employee records and related HR information; automation of time tracking and timesheet submittal; and tracking applicants.

Centralization

After conducting a thorough analysis of KFF, the consulting firm concludes that the company will need to integrate various software technologies into its current operations. The consulting firm proposes that Mrs. Kudler began this restructuring process with the company’s HR department.
