BM 42403: organizational Theory

This is a case evaluation for the assignment on Aquarius Advertising Agency.

After reading the case study I have come to the conclusion that Aquarius Advertising has two major problems: first is a total breakdown in their communications policies, second a dysfunctional chain of command. The information that gets shared between the company and the clients is vital to the projects this is a great wealth of knowledge to be shared, but they are not going about it in the proper way. The chain of command or the people that need to know what is going on are often left out of the loop.

The communication issues within the company must be addressed first. The current process can at times seem a faster way to get things done; in reality this will slow approval of the project. This approval is slowed due to the higher management having to catch up with the current status of all the changes made to the original agreed upon project. These changes must then be reviewed as to legality and protocol to coincide with the overall desires of the client and the company. As with any company a contract exists with the client which will stipulate what is to be done. With the amount of unsupervised contact between the employees of the client and the company responsible for the product, it can become a runaway project. In which it can negate the existing contract and cause a civil action on the part of the client.

For most communication plans within a company they are usually hierarchical in nature. This will result in a mechanistic communications system. This may slow things down a little, but everyone that needs to know what is going on will. All decisions can be properly reviewed and agreed upon by both the company and the client. All client communication should be routed to the appropriate personnel using the proper channels to let everyone know what is necessary to perform to the company’s expectations.
