FEDEX has several primary stakeholders to include their board of directors,management, investors, and the federal government. There are also stakeholders, such asemployees and customers that share interest in the success of the company but do not haveas much as an investment in it. There are both internal and external influences on FEDEXthat can affect their day-to-day operations, and it is necessary for their leadership tonegotiate with them to ensure that they are able to function effectively. The followingparagraphs will discuss how each of the stakeholders interact with each other and howmuch influence they have.1.

oard of directorsThe board of directors have a high base of power as well as high interest. It isnecessary for the corporation to keep them well informed so they can handleany situation internally or externally. They can be influenced by outsidegovernment agencies such as the Federal Aviation Administration as well asthe Unites States Postal Service.2.

 

Management FEDEX has developed a more decentralized management focus which allowsits employees to make decisions in a more timely manner. The overall

 

management has a dramatic role in the company and should have high powerand high interest. This is where the daily decions are being accomplishedand could where the majority of interaction takes place between internal andexternal customers. Interaction with stakeholders can either be positive ornegative depending on how managers relate to their needs.3.

 

Stockholders/investorsThis group can have a mix of power and interest depending on the level of investment. Stockholders are more likely to have low poer and interest because of the small amount of investment that is typically involved.Investers will probably still be low power but high interest groups that should be aware of major issues involving the company. While they do not have much of an impact externally, they have potential to affect employeesand all levels of management.4.
