ENG 3010

How it started?

My university experience in Wayne State University is slowly coming to an end. Due to my own laziness I ended up graduating in 4 and a half years and ENG 3010 was one of the last courses that I had to take. Being an Information System Management Major it was a really nice experience; however English being my second language was making it hard for me to put my thought into words. It was always easy for me to write papers, research and produce speeches in my native language, however, doing it in another language mad my work considerably harder. In consequence I was really happy that ENG 3010 was the last English class I had to take. After I’ve read the syllabus, I was a little bit confused and actually terrified about 25 page Project 4. On the other hand the possibility of explicitly researching any topic I wanted was sort of exciting. I have noticed that some of the exercise that I will end up doing might be helpful in the future research projects of mine. Hopefully, all the techniques that were in the curriculum will also be useful in my future education on a graduate level.

During three projects, I have slowly changed my original generative research question in such a way that it suits my research interest. During this period of time, I have transformed from a very general question to few convenient research questions. At the end, I tried to conclude my paper with how my research can help different stakeholders. Throughout the process I have learned a lot about the current situation in Detroit Public Schools. However, the path showed me how these issues can be resolved and what I was really interested in, motivation. Gradually, from a broad question in the beginning, through extensive research, I found few smaller, manageable questions that can be answered during an analysis of a proposed research topic.
