Critical Thinking Application Paper

Critical thinking involves determining the meaning and significance of what is observed or expressed, or, concerning a given inference or argument, determining whether there is adequate justification to accept the conclusion as true. Critical thinking is the process of thinking and observing the results of thinking. There are many deferent ways individuals think wither it be by speaking, listening, reading, observing or even acting. Individuals are always thinking wither they know it or not.

An open mind is essential to critical thinking, but there is no one way or written down rule for an open mind. If individuals have negative views of ideas it will lead them to look at all other ideas with negative views. A good example if how individuals perceive or think of others or their ideas is the stereotype. We often learn other individual’s stereo types by watching and listening to them. This also generates ideas but not always in a positive way.

The brain and memory play a major role when it comes to critical thinking. The critical thinking ability is located in the outer part of the brain, it’s the wrinkled part called the cortex. The brain also needs food to think, like our body the brain needs energy as well. The particular importance to thinking are the B vitamins. Vitamin B defiencncy has been a major contributor to confusion, depression, and problems in memory. Besides depleting the body of vitamin b, alcohol also impairs our thinking, particularly judgment and decision making.

Another major factor to critical thinking is sleep, perhaps which is why we spend more than one-third of our lives sleeping. When individuals lack sleep, they tend to have less ideas and bad productivity. Most individuals need a minimum of six hours of sleep each and every day.
