Organizational characteristics and individual characteristics is an important part of ethical behavior. It is clear that organizational characteristics will influence the ethical behavior of members in the organization. Individual characteristics of members in the organization will change the way they are influenced by the organizational characteristics. Several possible methods exist to promote and reinforce ethical behavior in the organization. The organization’s cultural values should be understood properly before setting the ethical standards and communicating them through different channels. Code of ethics can be a useful guideline to the organization’s ethical behavior keeping in mind that we should reward ethical behavior in the organization from time to time. Ethical leaders should be trained in such a way that nourishes their potential as an ethical leader to promote their follower’s ethical behavior in the workplace. There are many other possible ways to promote ethical behaviors in the work place. In order to implement such methods to promote ethical behavior, it is important to keep in mind about the fundamentals of ethical behavior, about how cultural, moral and personal behaviors hidden within the individual and organization influence the ethical behavior outcome. |
