Abstract

This paper will include a basic framework for the model, a discussion of why, how, when and by whom it is used as well as discuss how to implement the code of ethics within an organization. Additionally, this paper will also discuss the possible reaction to the code of ethics from the organization’s employees and the effect that the code would have on the company overall. The code of ethics used for this system of inquiry paper is Bank of America code of ethics. This system inquiry paper will evaluate the tools that Bank of America implements to assist in problem solving, making ethical decisions, and addressing the behaviors of its employees in the workplace.

Codes of ethics are a group of principles of conduct that an organization uses to guide the decision making behaviors within the workplace. Its purpose is to assist employees, members, or other related parties with specific guiding principles to help them make ethical decision in the conduct of their daily job responsibilities. Professionalism and integrity are the foundation of what an organization’s code of ethics purpose is. Bank of America has a code of ethics that is appropriately framed to exemplify what the organization stands for. Their code of ethics also consist of values that are called “The Bank of America Core Values” which has five values that ultimately represents what the company believes is their aspiration to interact with its customers, shareholder, the communities, and others (Bank of America, 2009).

Bank of America is the second largest back in the United States and Bank of America is the second largest bank in the United States in terms of total account value so needless to say, they must be doing something right. Like other major banks such as Citibank and Wachovia, Bank of America often releases new promotions to attract new deposit customers.
