Introduction

Working in a team is a crucial and daily activity happening from small university workshops to various multinational organizations. Therefore, identifying the strong and weak points in one’s personality is an essential step in shaping appropriate behaviors to attain better performance in teamwork. The Big Five Model has an assortment of facets that assists a team in achieving performance goals. The results of a personal survey concluded that achieving the facets of conscientiousness and emotional stability are important in order to conduct a deep analysis that develops a suitable behavior and action plan to meet the team’s objective.

What is Personality?

According to Hogan and Holland (2003, p.101), personalities affect human behaviors in the general psychological ability and physical action. It shows how individual interact and react to others in real life situations related to job performance and attitudes in the workplace. In addition, with the development of the personality theories, the Big Five introduces five fundamental characteristics with several facets to assist initially in the prediction personality process related to performance (Barrick & Mount, 2005, p.360). For example, an individual with high extraversion is very energetic, ambitious and gregarious as well as well-influence others, so this employee tends to be more successful in their job or has high job performance, which is particularly evident in employees who hold sales or marketing position. This also determined other work behavior outcome factors including turnover, job satisfaction or absenteeism (Barrick & Mount, 2005, p.363). Barrick and Mount (2005, p.363) illustrate that personality has a crucial impact on the workforce environment daily and therefore, it is important to help manager make precise decision in recruitment to push the organization goals or identify an appropriate resolution for company conflict.
