Infosys’ Strategic Human Resource Management Advantage

Overview

This paper attempts to answer two questions and analyze a case study regarding Infosys’ human resource (HR) operations at intermittent times between 1987 and 2003 when significant change in the environment signaled ownership to heed the necessity to overcome adversities ultimately inherit from the situational changes and challenges of being in the IT and software industry and originating and based in India, whose laws changed during already distressful economic times. The ultimate success of the company was achieved via consistent and effective Strategic HR Management. .

The two questions answered are:

1. What is the difference between Traditional and Strategic Human Resources Management; and

2. Which provides greater support to the success of an organization in meeting its goals and mission.

The case study publication reviewed for this analysis is titled Infosys (A): Strategic Human Resource Management, written by Delong. (2006).

Company Background

Infosys is a software company based out of India. The published information identifies the company’s intermittent strategic HR decisions during its operations between 1987 and 2003.

Infosys’ Financial Successful yearly growth from 1993 to 2003 is represented easily by the following fact: Compound annual growth rate of 65%. (Delong, 2006) and (Porter and Norton, 2008).
