Role and Functions of Law Paper
The function and role of Law in our businesses and society plays a major role in the everyday process of business in our society. In business, law gives us rules and ethical values and a means for settling disputes. It’s for our own good to protect us and our business to have set standard in keeping our business and employee operating proficiently. Without set rules or standards, business would probably not exist.
Law is defined as rules of action or conduct prescribed by controlling authority, having legal binding force (Melvin, p. 2011). Business Law provides ways of resolving disputes and with individual who breaks any set rules and regulations set from our government. Purpose of Law is to provide for some system of order that defines crimes and levies punishment for violation of the crime. The United States lawmakers support the antidiscrimination laws, which help promote quality and justice in today’s society. It is important to recognize the law also serves as an important catalyst for promoting good faith dealing among merchants and customers.
There are several different types of Laws which comprise the following, constitutions, statutes, common law, administrative regulations and decisions, treaties, ordinances, and executive orders (Melvin, p. 2011).
Constitutions Law establishes the basic law principles of a government on state or federal echelon.
Statutes and Common Law, is enacted by the legislative branch of government. Administrative policy is comparable to Statutes Law, except it’s enacted by the administrative agencies vice elected representatives. Common law is based on decisions prepared in court. These laws are functional when the case is not governed through additional types of law.
Treaties are contracts among two or more political powers, for example a state. Ordinance is a law formed by municipalities. Executive orders are...
