EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This report focuses on Brazil as one of the BRICS countries, emerging market and developing country.

Firstly, we assess Brazil’s attractiveness by using the PEST model. The Brazilian’s market is an attractive market thanks to many factors: its natural resources, its population, and its growth. The government is aware of the potential of the country and is acting in this way. Moreover, the future looks bright with the organization of events, such as the FIFA world cup 2012 and the Olympics. Further, we study the most suitable entry modes for companies to get into the market.

Secondly, we study the political and economic policies implemented in the country, by highlighting important points about the financial crisis and describing policies followed until today in Brazil –e.g. establishment of economic plans. In relation to that, we then describe the efforts made by the government to develop the country, and explain how Brazil’s model is morphing into a new one. In relation to the worldwide 2008 financial crisis, Brazil was not only one of the first countries stricken by the crisis’ effects, but also among the first who escaped from it.

Finally, we assess the prospects for French investors in Brazil. A description of the current Franco-Brazilian trade relations is proposed, which explain how strongly the two countries share their commercial links, in particular in the automotive, aeronautic and pharmaceutical...
