Examine and assess the main computing problems Digipos faced with regard to system upgrades.

In my opinion, Digipos tasked their engineers with thinking outside of the box. They were faced with the challenge of reducing their total costs of ownership and still deliver a stable and reliable platform suitable for a wide range of retail and hospitality markets. Maximizing their customer’s investment gave them the ability to maintain their competitive advantage; but in order to do that had to partner closely with a company that could provide a verifiable high performance embedded processor technology. Intel was the company and they have been using their processors exclusively for the past twelve years. Most retail systems prior to Digios were done with systems designed with a PC format and had to be replaced every five to seven years. Upgrades and maintenance were downtime that could cost a company in lost revenue and damaged reputations. With Digios’s design retailers have the ability to diagnose the problems and resolved them quickly and efficiently.

Evaluate the solutions that Digipos used to resolve the problem. Propose an alternative solution that you believe could resolve the problem.

Digipos Systems gives retailers the tools to have more control over their Point Of Sale transactions by enabling them to change out only the part that was giving them problems. DigioS design eliminated needing to replace the entire system which maximized their investment in the Blade system. Every Retail Blade system is shipped with a diagnostic utility that does away with the trouble shooting and trial and error with regard to software and hardware when problems arise.
