Criminology is a science dealing with crime study and society response. Criminology analyses the factors that lead individuals to committing crime thus seek to give remedies to stopping crime. Criminology has helped shape the judicial and security system through analysis use. Criminology has three sub branches: Individual, Positivist and Classical. Criminology gives an explanation as to why society chooses different punishments for different crimes. Criminology explains why various acts are crimes. Criminology explains why crimes happen, their approach and their eradication. Crime is an act that is morally wrong. Criminology explains that crimes are not existent. Criminology explains that crimes are dependent on environment, emotions, political and social factors. Criminology aims at rehabilitating rather than punishment (Jones, 13).

Criminology has had a tremendous impact in the growth of criminal justice and criminal law. The analysis has given law enforcers better understanding of crime and better way for combating the vice. Criminology has various sub branches which deals with the study of prisons, criminal behavior, women crime and crime detection. Criminal behavior explains that changes in the environment and socially relate to crime. Women crime explains that inferiority of women in crime influences the sex industry. Criminology explains that criminal behavior is due to interaction with criminal patterns (Cavan, 67).
