Leadership over the years has evolved from being just goal oriented to be more of employee oriented. The recent leadership styles cater majorly to the employees and their goal has shifted to being more of employee centric rather than profit centric. The current era calls for visionary and innovation-driven leaders who can adapt to the changing market trends and can also execute the change by keeping employees informed. Organisational culture is like the air we breathe and is of utmost importance. The establishment of a culture in an organization flows from the top management. Hence, the core values of the leader would influence the culture that is developed.

This paper aims:

• To establish a link between the personal traits of leaders and how they impact the organisational culture.

• To study the organisation culture change with the subsequent changes in leadership styles of the Tata group.

This paper eludes how the evolution of leadership traits has impacted the organizational culture- which parameters have continued to remain the core values, which have changed and how they have affected the business. It revolves around the various chairmen of Tata through the years and uses the profit reports and sales figures to conclude on the findings. The methodology used is secondary research and the already published reports and journals about the Tata’s.

The findings can help in bringing out the importance of leadership at every level in today’s corporate world. It will also highlight how the various visions of the different Tata’s influenced their business, what was common and how they could sustain their ‘Leadership with Trust’...
