Decision Making Processes
Critical thinking is a necessary part of any problem solving technique. This type of thinking comes in handy when involved in the decision making process. Our team consists of Bob, William, Robert, and Chris. As a team we come from different working environments. As a result, our places of work have different decision making processes.
Here at IntegraSys it seems like we use many different decision making process. The process unfortunately, depends on the person and or department. Some will make fast decisions to react to a problem quickly. Some will try to ignore that problem until it gets so big it causes mass chaos. But the decision process we are going to go through is the process of solving the reoccurring problem we have with our data line connections to each of our credit union clients.
Each of our Credit Union clients has a Frame Relay connection that connects their server to our processing site in Charlotte, NC. Verizon defines Frame Relay as (Verizon, 2008)“Frame Relay is a dedicated path on an existing network connection able to handle large bursts of data.” When the Frame Relay circuit goes down the Credit Union is unable to process their data. The Credit Union will call us & we will start the trouble shooting process. Although this problem is 99% of the time a problem with the circuit somewhere between the Credit Unions building and our processing center, we do not jump to conclusions and point the finger at the Telecommunications Company. First we will check the server at the Credit Union’s site and reboot it to make sure it is not the problem. Second we check the “FRAD Unit” that is owned by the Telecommunications Company. This unit connects the Frame Relay circuit to the Server. We will reboot it as well and make sure that all the proper lights are on. Next...
