Student meets Fast-Food

Insight into a student’s life

Like any respected researcher, before conducting a study, you must identify the problem that you want to look into. In my case, the problem that I want to tackle is the importance of fast food in the life of students. Several questions come to my mind and all of them must be answered before properly beginning the study.

What is the problem and what is known about it so far?

Ever since the introduction of fast-food into the Romanian market, more and more people have started using their services. Why so? The reasons are multiple, starting with the lack of time needed to ensure proper meals, the incredible taste of the products, the attractivity of the price, sometimes even the atmosphere. A large number of the people who use fast-food services is made up of students because they find it cheaper, faster and easier than the traditional ways of eating, especially since most of the students do not a stable home in Bucharest and it is very difficult for them to solve the „where to eat?” issue. Students have been eating more and more in restaurants of the fast-food type, even though it is well-known that this range of products leads to overeating, obesity, heart problems, diabetes and severe food poisoning in some rare cases. Under these conditions, knowing how bad it is for our health, how come students still choose when it comes to eating? It’s as simple as rain, the portions are huge, the high calorie and fat content, tastiness, low levels of dietary fiber and of course high amounts of refined starch and added sugar. And this is only if we scratch the surface, because if we are to look into this matter even more, we will discover that the main reason for which the students choose fast-food is mainly...laziness.
