classify viruses?

2. What does HHAPPPy refer to? Name them!

3. Also, what are the “non-enveloped” DNA viruses? (mnemonic)

Letʼs start with the Papovaviruses:

Again, what kind of virus is it? Is it non-enveloped or enveloped?

Is it linear or circular? Is it single stranded or double stranded?

What is the most common virus in this category?

*What is the pathogenesis of HPV? (use E2, p53, Rb in your answer)

*What are the malignant types of HPV?

*Tx?

The less common virus is this category is Polyoma virus. Just know that this is the JC

virus, that virus that causes PML (Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy) in AIDS

Letʼs move on to Adenovirus

Again, what kind of virus is it? Non-enveloped or enveloped? ds or ss?

What are the diseases that it causes? So what do you think the pathogenesis is with

respect to what it infects, etc.?

NO TREATMENT! very common, let body fight it off

Letʼs move onto PARVOVIRUS (B19)

What kind of virus is it? Non-env or env? DS or SS? (!!!!)

What is the disease called that it causes? What is the name for this (funny)?

Why is this a bad disease to get if you are anemic? Why is it bad to get if you are

pregnant?

How is it transmitted?

NO treatment!

Which one is associated with Roseola (a rash that typically occurs in children after 3-4

days of high fever)?

Which one is associated with microcephaly?

Which one is associatd with infections in transplantation?
