ASSIGNMENT1: As facilities manager, you are responsible for assigning and scheduling employees to various Public Works projects throughout the Federal government installation at Pt. Mugu’s old office buildings.

The preliminary sheet- metal work has been done, and the main unit has arrived in your shop. You have scheduled a crew of three to install the unit and the vents, and you estimate the job will take about two weeks. The physicists working in the building have stated that it would be most convenient for them if you begin work on Saturday.

You want to tell everyone in the building that your crew will begin on Saturday, that the job will take at least two weeks, that the job will be a noisy one, and that you have made arrangements with security to give you access to the building through the front and side entrances from 8:15 A.M. Until 4:15 P.M. Due to the age of the building, unforeseen delays may lengthen the project beyond the estimated two weeks. Write the memo.

Renovation of building

Pt. Mugu’s old office buildings will be undergoing renovation. This renovation will take at least two weeks and will be a noisy one.

The preliminary sheet- metal work has been done, and the main unit has arrived in the shop. I have schedule the crew of three to install the unit and the vents.

I have made arrangements with the security to give you access to the building through the front and side entrances from 8.15 AM to 4.15 PM every day during the period. The manager of Pt. Mugu’s office will be waiting for you at the lobby by 8.20 AM on the first day. He will bring you to the office where the unit and the vents will be installed. Access to the cafeteria and rest room will be allowed during the time period. Unforeseen delay may lengthen the project beyond the estimated two weeks due to the age of the building.
