Religion is a set of beliefs that a specific group of people follow. Each religion has their own individual views on abortion. Most religions often disagree their reason being prolife. The majority that do agree are often prochoice. Jesus believed that abortion is not classed as murder bust should be discouraged unless the mothers life is at risk. However many Roman Catholics define abortion as an ‘unspeakable crime’. There are liberal and conservative religious groups that are involved and there is conflict in the social and ethical issues. Should faith follow traditional ways or should they be developed to fit in today’s society?

There is significant moral controversy as the opinion in the UK and worldwide is divided. People often disagree with abortion as it’s an issue on the human rights. Although many disagree with it abortion is actually legal in the UK. It has been known that some arguments regard the method of abortion being vile and unhygienic. In many countries back street abortions are currently on going. These abortions also put the mother’s life at risk as the correct equipment is not accessible. Backstreet abortions are women’s ‘escape’ as abortions are illegal in their country. The methods used in the UK and sometimes they are regarded as more or less controversial because of the way they are preformed and where they are preformed. An early abortion which has the same effects to a neutral miscarriage a vacuum aspiration uses suction to remove the foetus and a late abortion where the foetus is surgically removed.

The sanctity of life is one example that may lead people to believe that abortions destruct a human’s life and is immoral. It’s the idea that life is sacred and should be valued. Christian’s belief on the sanctity of life comes from the Bible the use of reason and Church. The bible consists of many quotes that cherish the sanctity of life and it is absolute.
